Winnipeg Police Service Drug Enforcement and Street Crimes Units have been targeting mid-level drug dealers in an effort to disrupt the illegal trafficking of Methamphetamine, Cocaine and Heroin.

Since mid-November officers have recovered 10.14 kilograms of meth with an estimated street value of more than $1 million. They have also seized $127,000 worth of heroin and $5,000 in fentanyl and $40,000 in cash.

Five people are facing charges stemming from a series Controlled Drug and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrants that were executed from mid-November to early January.

On November 19, 2018 police arrested an adult male as part of their investigation into drugs near Broadway and Sherbrook Street. Inside his vehicle officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit found 10 x 1/2 kilogram bags of Meth.

Officers got a CDSA search warrant and raided a home in St.Vital. Officers found 1.1 kilograms of Meth in the home along with $24,500 in cash, a money counting machine, packaging materials, a vacuum sealer and scales.

Police also arrested an adult male who was in the home at the time of the search.

Investigators have charged Andre Maurice Lussier, 35 and Ryan Richard Trudeau, 32 with Possess for the Purpose of Trafficking (Meth), Possess Scheduled Substance (Meth) and Possess Proceeds of Crime over $5,000 for their alleged involvement.

Both men were released on a promise to appear in court.

On December 2, 2018, Winnipeg Police Service Street Crime Unit raided homes in the Transcona and Lakeside Meadows areas of the city and found 3.64 kilos of Meth worth $364,000 on the street, 1/2 a kilo of heroin worth $126,000 and about $40,000 in cash.

Two men, aged 56 and 26, were arrested and are facing charges of Possess for th Purpose of Trafficking (Meth), Possess for the Purpose of Trafficking (Heroin) and Possess Proceeds of Crime over $5,000.

Drug enforcement officers executed a CDSA warrant on January 3, 2019, at a Transcona home where they found a 1/2 kilo of Meth with a street value of $50,000, 10 grams of Fentanyl worth $5,000, 2 grams of heroin, 2 rocks of Crack Cocaine, scales, scoresheets and packaging material.

Crystal Smith, a 37-year-old female from Winnipeg is facing charges for her alleged involvement of Possess for the Purpose of Trafficking (Meth), Possess Scheduled Substance (Meth), Possess Proceeds of Crime over $5,000.

She was released on a promise to appear in court.
