CD Projekt Red doesn’t seem to be getting a minute to rest since the release of Cyberpunk 2077. Since the release on December 10th, each day a new bugs, glitches or news gives a headache to the developers.
Just Yesterday, CD Projekt Red had released a public announcement apologizing for the state of the game on the older generation of consoles such as PS4 and Xbox One. The company promised everyone that they will fix bugs and crashes, and improve the overall experience, with the first round of updates been released and the next one coming within the next 7 days. The company also promised refunds for players who still weren’t satisfied with the resolution and wanted to go ahead with a refund.
However, despite CD Projekt Red promising refunds to disappointed gamers, Sony has reportedly refused refunds to those who purchased the digital PS4 version of the game. After the news of refunds being issued broke, many users contacted their respective console makers for refund, but soon on Twitter, many users expressed their frustration about being denied a refund of their digital purchase of Cyberpunk 2077 for PS4, posting several screenshots of their PlayStation customer support conversations where the support representatives flat-out denied refunds.

PlayStation customer support representatives have reportedly referred to the PlayStation Store Cancellation Policy, which states that a game cannot be refunded if it has been downloaded or streamed. Even after users argued about CD Projekt Red allowing the refund and asking them to contact PSN for a refund, the support representatives seemingly tried to sway customers away from urging for a refund, citing CD Projekt Red’s announcement of patches for the console versions of Cyberpunk 2077 on the way.
While CD Projekt Red offered for any customers struggling to get a refund to contact them directly at the “[email protected]” email address, it’s only available for those users who are facing issues trying to refund the physical copies. There’s no denying of oversight and miscommunication between CD Projekt Red and Sony about this special scenario where the PlayStation Store Cancellation Policy won’t apply. It’s disappointing for users of PS4 and has left many gamers with a sour taste in their mouths and will further add to their fury.
