Ontario is reporting another 1,265 COVID-19 cases, and 33 more deaths, according to its latest report released Monday morning.
The seven-day average is down to 1,327 cases daily, or 64 weekly per 100,000. Ontario’s seven-day average for deaths is down at 44.9 daily.
Ontario completed 28,303 tests, the lowest daily total since Nov. 21, the Star’s Ed Tubb reports. But the positivity rate is 4.4 per cent, the lowest for any Monday report since Dec. 7.
There are 901 people currently hospitalized with COVID-19 in the province, including 335 patients in intensive care. There are 226 people on ventilators.
Ontario has administered 6,987 doses of the vaccine since its last daily update, with 386,171 vaccines given in total as of 8 p.m. the previous night. The province says 106,163 people have completed their vaccinations, which means they’ve had both doses.
Locally, Health Minister Christine Elliott says 421 cases are in Toronto, 256 in Peel Region and 130 in York Region.
Meanwhile, 10 more residents in long-term care have died for a total of 3,669 since the pandemic began, in the latest report released by the province.
There are 494 active cases among residents, 27 fewer than the last daily report.
There are 686 active cases among staff, two more than the last daily report.
Ontario is reporting five more LTC homes in outbreak, for a total of 213 or 34 per cent of the long-term-care homes in the province.
Since the pandemic began, 11 staff members in Ontario’s long-term care homes have died due to the virus, according to the province.
This data is self-reported by the long-term care homes to the Ministry of Long-Term Care. Daily case and death figures may not immediately match the numbers posted by the local public health units due to lags in reporting time.
