Ottawa Public Health reported 46 new cases and three new deaths on Saturday.
Thirteen people are in Ottawa hospitals with COVID, including three in intensive care.
There have so far been 13,903 confirmed cases in Ottawa and 432 deaths.
There are 420 active cases in the city, and 13,051 resolved.
OPH reported no new outbreaks on Saturday.
There are 30 ongoing outbreaks in the city — 18 in health care institutions, seven in childcare venues and schools, and five community outbreaks.
According to OPH’s COVID-19 dashboard, 38,030 vaccinations have so far been administered. As of Feb. 11, 96.5 per cent of long-term care home residents in Ottawa have received a first vaccination, while 91 per cent have received their second.
Province
Ontario confirmed its first case of the Brazilian variant of COVID-19 on Saturday, adding to the three South African variant cases and hundreds of cases of the U.K. variant already reported in the province.
Overall, Ontario reported 1,300 new COVID-19 cases Saturday and 19 new deaths, bringing the province’s totals to 284, 887 and 6,651 respectively.
Ottawa Public Health, according to the province’s tallies up to Friday afternoon, reported 29 new cases, for a total of 13,893.
The Eastern Ontario Health Unit confirmed 10 new cases, while Kingston, Frontenac and Lennox and Addington confirmed seven new cases. Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District reported one new case, while none were reported in Renfrew County and District.
Additionally, 22 new cases on the U.K. variant were reported in Ontario, raising that total to 297. No new cases of the South African variant were reported in the province. That strain has been reported in three people so far.
Meanwhile, 786 people in Ontario are hospitalized with COVID-19, an increase of 23 over the previous day. Of those, 287 are in intensive care, 203 on ventilators.
There have been 265,893 resolved COVID cases in the province, an increase of 1,434 over Friday’s reported totals.
Toronto Public Health has reported a case of an unspecified COVID-19 variant has surfaced in a city homeless shelter.
Officials provided few details about the case, which was identified at a city-funded shelter run by the Salvation Army.
There are eight active cases at the facility, but only one case involves the variant.
Officials did not specify whether a shelter user or staff member tested positive for the variant.
Quebec
Quebec reported 1,049 new cases on Saturday, while the province’s death toll increased by 28, to 10,201.
The 28 additional deaths represents five reported in the 24-hour period ending at 4 p.m. Friday, as well as 21 that occurred between Feb. 6 and 11, and seven newly reported deaths that occurred before Feb. 6.
Five deaths previously reported as COVID-19-related were removed from that list in the latest report.
The number of people hospitalized decreased by 37, to 812, while 130 are in intensive care, a drop of seven from Friday’s report.
Eighteen new cases were reported in the Outaouais on Saturday, bringing the region’s total to 6,014. There have been 157 COVID-related deaths in the Outaouais.
Overall, there have been 275,880 cases in the province.
Meanwhile, police fined five people a total of $7,500 for breaking the province’s quarantine regulations in a get-together in Val-des-Monts.
