Coronavirus Canada Updates: Manitoba reports 144 COVID-19 cases as 7-day average sinks below 200

The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge (HKPR) District Health Unit says there is 1 new COVID-19 case locally as of today (Mar 3), which is in Kawartha Lakes.

And there are 958 new cases reported in Ontario today and 17 more deaths from the virus.

Health Minister Christine Elliott says 249 cases are in Toronto, 164 in Peel Region and 92 in York Region.

There are 668 people currently hospitalized, including 274 people in intensive care and 188 on ventilators.

The HKPR District Health Unit now has 416 cases resolved and 17 unresolved.

Since the start of the pandemic, there have been a total of 1,033 cases of COVID-19 in the HKPR District Health Unit area.

The health unit has listed 53 as high risk contacts in Northumberland, meaning 53 Northumberland County residents have recently been in close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19.
