Coronavirus: The latest numbers on COVID-19 in Canada for Saturday, June 12, 2021

Public health officials advise that no additional deaths due to COVID-19 are being reported Monday. The number of COVID-19 deaths in Manitoba remains at 949.

The current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 6.2% provincially and 5.6% in Winnipeg, up provincially from Sunday’s rate of 5.9% and Winnipeg’s rate was down slightly from 5.7% in Winnipeg. It marked the sixth day in a row the provincial rate had been up. One hundred and fourteen new cases of the virus have been identified, bringing the total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba to 35,327.

The new cases include 62 from Winnipeg, 36 from Northern, nine from Prairie Mountain, four from Southern Health and three from Interlake-Eastern health region.

There are currently 1,370 active cases while 33,008 individuals have recovered. A total of 135 people remain in hospital with 33 in intensive care. Those numbers include both patients with active COVID-19 as well as those who are no longer infectious but continue to require care.

As of Saturday, the total number of screened or sequenced variant cases was 412, including 364 of the UK variant, 20 of the South Africa variant and 28 cases that had not been categorized. The numbers will be updated on Tuesday.

A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at the Emerson Health Centre in Emerson. The site has been moved to the Critical (red) level on the #RestartMB Pandemic Response System.

A new Fast Pass site opened in Winkler Monday at the existing drive-thru testing site at 485 George Ave. for eligible school staff and those working in licensed child-care centres. No appointments are necessary and the site operates in the drive-thru format. Clients will be asked if they meet eligibility criteria and to present proof of eligibility, such as a work identification card or letter for the Fast Pass program, upon arrival and will then be given a rapid test.

Hours of operation for the Winkler Fast Pass program are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon to 4 p.m. For more information on the Fast Pass program, visit www.gov.mb.ca/covid19/testing/rapid-testing.html.
