A 78-year-old woman from Mississauga is dead after a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 401 near Highway 400.
Ontario province police said the crash happened on the eastbound express lanes just past the 400 at 5 a.m. on Thursday.
The woman was rushed to hospital, where she later died.
OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said the crash involved a transport truck and two passenger vehicles.
He said a second person was taken to hospital with minor injuries, while a third person at the scene was not injured.
The cause of the crash is not yet known.
The eastbound express lanes of the 401 are closed from east of Kipling to east of Highway 400.
