As an update from the Saskatchewan Health Authority promised earlier this week, the eligibility for vaccine appointments has been lowered to include residents aged 44 or older, effective beginning today.
Saskatchewan residents aged 44 and older can now book a vaccine appointment either online or by phoning the Vaccine Call Centre, at 1-833-SASKVAX (1-833-727-5829).
The age window for residents in the northern part of the province remains unchanged at 40 years or older, and all previously named priority groups remain eligible.
Almost all of the drive-through and walk-in clinics in the province are currently closed, due to a lack of vaccine supply. North Battleford is the only community with a drive-through site open today and tomorrow.
Mass immunization clinics are still operating to fulfil booked appointments, but will only be offering appointments as far as vaccine supply will last at this time.
The province pledged on Tuesday that it will be lowering the vaccine age to 40 years or older by April 28, after approving the AstraZeneca vaccine for use in individuals in that age range and adding it to the clinics’ supplies.
