Quebec reported more than a thousand new COVID-19 cases on Saturday for the fourth day in a row.
The province reported that 1,101 new cases were recorded on April 30. The figure was close to the previous seven-day average of 1,048. The number of new cases reported in Montreal rose to 308, by far the highest number per region and above the average recorded over the previous five days, which was 256. The second highest number recorded by region was, 135, in the Montérégie.
Quebec also recorded 7 new deaths, including one that had occurred in the previous 24 hours and five that occurred between April 24 and April 29. The total number of deaths attributable to COVID-19 now stands at 10,933.
The number of people hospitalized by the virus dropped by 14, to 578.
The number of people in intensive care units across the province decreased by five to to 159.
330,362 have now recovered from the virus.
On Saturday, Health Minister Christian Dubé tweeted that more than 200,000 appointments for vaccines were booked for the second day in a row on Friday. He noted that there are still appointments available this week for people over 50.
