A woman battling breast cancer has been given something to cheer about after scooping a cool $1 million on the lottery.
Mona Gilbert, 47, from Alma in Quebec, Canada, was shocked when she discovered the news at the start of the new year.
“I looked at the screen, I was frozen,” she told Radio-Canada of her Loto-Quebec Extra win.
“I said, ‘Wow! What a relief! I won’t have to work anymore for money.’”
The mother said the extra income will be a weight off her shoulders as she soldiers on through chemotherapy.
“I had a breast tumour,” she said.
“After that, they said I had three. Then they said I had five.”
Ms Gilbert, who has also had a mastectomy, revealed she looked forward to splashing her cash and would look to buy a new home as well as treating her children.
