Two people were treated for minor injuries after a duplex caught on fire early Sunday morning in southeast Calgary.

The Calgary Fire Department received multiple calls for a blaze in the 200 block of Cranston Drive S.E. around 2 a.m. When crews arrived they found smoke and fire coming from a two-storey duplex and a second alarm was called, a news release said.

Crews worked to bring the fire under control while three people and two cats safely left the home and two people and two cats were able to exit the adjoining property. All will be displaced until the buildings can be repaired.

Alberta Health Services attended the scene and treated one person for a burn injury and another for smoke inhalation. Neither were transported to the hospital.

Crews remain on scene working to salvage and overhaul the property to ensure any further damage is stopped. Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
