Paramedics brought four people to hospital after a truck crashed into a southeast Calgary restaurant Saturday night.
Police responded to Sammy’s Chophouse, a restaurant at 3153 34 Ave S.E., at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday for calls that a vehicle had driven into the building, striking several patrons.
Police identified the driver as a 76-year-old man in a news release. They said he crashed the truck through the restaurant “at a high rate of speed before coming to a rest inside.”
First responders assessed several people at the scene and brought four to hospital.
Those brought to hospital were: an adult woman in serious but stable condition brought to Foothills Medical Centre; an adult woman in stable, non-life-threatening condition brought to Foothills; an adult woman in stable, non-life-threatening condition brought to South Health Campus; and an elderly man in stable, non-life-threatening condition brought to Peter Lougheed Centre.
Police said investigations are ongoing into the cause of the incident, but that alcohol is not considered a factor.
No charges had been laid as the investigation continued.
