Calgary police release new images in unprovoked downtown attacks

Calgary police are asking the public for help identifying a man who stabbed a woman multiple times downtown last month.

Police say the stabbing happened during an altercation between a man and a woman in an alley behind 5th Avenue S.W. on Sept. 22.

The man stabbed the woman multiple times before she ran to a passerby for help. She was taken to hospital in critical condition.

The two knew each other but the victim doesn’t know the suspect’s identity, according to police. He’s described as being around five feet 10 inches tall with a medium build and dark hair. He was wearing a green jacket with a fur-lined hood, blue jeans and brown shoes at the time of the attack.

Police ask anybody with information on the suspect to contact the police non-emergency number at 403-266-1234, or provide tips anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
