Owen Sound Police say a 37-year-old is facing a number of charges following a bank robbery in the city.
Police say on Feb. 18, a lone male entered an Owen Sound bank with his faced concealed by a mask. The man proceeded to approach a bank teller, passing a hand-written note demanding cash, indicating serious bodily harm would result if money was not provided.
Police say the man was given an undisclosed amount of money and fled the bank on foot.
“Although the incident was traumatic, bank employees were not physically injured during the robbery,” say police in a release.
Police say patrol officers, city police and members of the criminal investigations branch responded to the robbery and commenced an immediate investigation.
Police say about three hours following the robbery, the suspect was identified and arrested at a residence close to the bank.
Stolen items, including the cash were recovered by police.
Police say the accused of no fixed address was charged with robbery, wearing a disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence, uttering threats, and possession of property obtain by crime.
Police say the accused was remanded into custody at the conclusion of a bail court appearance the morning of Feb. 19.
