A homicide investigation has begun into the death of a 30-year-old man in the Stonebridge area of Saskatoon on Saturday.
Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) said in a news release that officers found Angose Standingwater with life threatening injuries after they were called to a business in the 3000 block of Clarence Avenue South around 11 p.m. on May 20. There are a number of restaurants and businesses in the area.
Standingwater died, despite lifesaving efforts by the Saskatoon Fire Department and Medavie Health Services West, police said. Standingwater’s next of kin have been notified.
No further information was provided Sunday. It is the third homicide reported in Saskatoon in 2023, according to SPS.
Saskatoon had 13 homicides in 2022, compared to seven in 2021 — almost twice as many as Regina, which had seven homicides in 2022.
In 2021, there were seven homicides recorded in Saskatoon — which is the same amount Regina saw in all of 2022.
