A Montreal bus driver was seriously injured following a collision with a large truck in Montreal North on Monday.
The truck was stopped at a red light on Henri-Bourassa Blvd. when the Société de transport de Montréal bus driver plowed into the back of the 53-foot truck, said Benoît Boisselle of the Montreal police.
“He may have been ill or it could be inattention,” Boisselle said, adding that the bus driver’s life is not in danger.
The collision happened about 9 a.m. while the bus was travelling east on Henri-Bourassa Blvd. near Pelletier St.
The driver, 46, was trapped inside the bus and firefighters had to remove him with rescue pincers.
The truck driver was not injured.
There were five passengers on the STM bus at the time of the crash. One passenger suffered a minor head injury.
