Another date when people at the Cactus Club on Water Street may have been exposed to COVID-19 has been identified by Interior Health.

Individuals who were at the bar of the Cactus Club, #1-1370 Water St., between 5 p.m. and midnight on Aug. 8 are asked to self-monitor themselves closely for symptoms of COVID-19 and to get tested if they begin to exhibit symptoms.

“Public health contact tracing is underway, and where possible, (Interior Health) is reaching out directly to individuals who have been exposed,” reads a health authority press release. “Individuals seeking a test should call their primary care provider (family physician or nurse practitioner) or the closest Interior Health community testing and assessment centre.”

Within the Interior Health region, there are now 161 cases linked to Kelowna since June 26 — 12 of the 161 cases are active and under isolation.

Earlier today, Aug. 11, the health authority announced it was closing Kelowna’s temporary testing site, which opened, Aug. 4, at the Community Health Services Centre on Doyle Avenue. It was opened in response to the high number of COVID-19 cases in Kelowna among younger people who live, socialize and work downtown.

Interior Health intended for the site to be only open for a few weeks with an extension if needed. In that announcement, they said Kelowna had 158 cases, which showed no new cases for several days.

COVID-19 testing will continue to be offered at Interior Health’s Testing and Assessment Centre at the Kelowna Urgent and Primary Care Centre on Harvey Avenue, by appointment from 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., seven days a week to those with any symptoms, according to an Interior Health media release. Appointments are required and can be made by phone at 250-469-6985.

Testing is recommended for anyone experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, including fever, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, loss of sense of taste or smell and other milder symptoms may include: runny nose, fatigue, body aches (muscles and joints aching), diarrhea, headache, sore throat, vomiting and red eyes.
