Reese Witherspoon wants to find the next great voice in country music.
The award-winning actress and Nashville native teams her media company Hello Sunshine with Apple TV+ to produce “My Kind Of Country,” a music talent contest series focused on Music City’s most celebrated export.
Witherspoon unveiled the project Monday via social media, noting that “… country music has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember.”
“The history of songwriting and recording, the artistry of matching lyrics and chords, the true expression of what is happening to humanity right now,” Witherspoon posted, “not to mention the dazzling stage performances that bring you to your feet.”
The note continued, “There are so many remarkably talented people whose voices are being heard right now, but there are many more who have different experiences and remarkable stories that still need to be told in the genre.”
I am beyond excited to share that @HelloSunshine will be partnering with @AppleTV to bring y’all it’s very first competition series called “My Kind of Country”…. the search for extraordinary country music talent. ✨

Witherspoon acts as executive producer alongside Hello Sunshine head of television & film Lauren Neustadter, and SVP of unscripted programming Cynthia Stockhammer.
Tenured Nashville music manager Jason Owen — who works with the likes of Kacey Musgraves and Dan + Shay at Sandbox Entertainer — joins in an executive producer role, as does “The Masked Singer” show runner Izzie Pick Ibarra and Katy Mullan and Melanie Fletcher from television staging company Done + Dusted.
Hello Sunshine — the team behind popular dramas such as HBO’s “Big Little Lies” and Apple TV’s “The Morning Show” — last produced an unscripted show with home organization series “Get Organized with The Home Edit,” which debuts in September via Netflix.
“My Kind Of Country” marks the first competition program ordered by streaming service Apple TV+.
“I’ve been incredibly inspired by all artists who continue to blaze bold new trails and our hope is to discover musicians who are revolutionizing country music and help amplify their voices and bring the JOY of Country Music to everyone around the world,” Witherspoon shared.
