A Florida city recently repealed its 13-year ban against saggy pants.
The Opa-locka City Commission voted at a Wednesday meeting to repeal a 2007 resolution and a 2013 ordinance that gave authorities the ability to cite men or women for wearing clothing that exposed their underwear.
“I was never in support of it, even as a resident,” Vice Mayor Chris Davis, who sponsored the repeal, told the Miami Herald. “I felt it disproportionately affected a certain segment of our population, which is young, African-American men.”
The vote to repeal the ban will have to be approved one more time before it’s official. The repeal was initially approved by a 4-1 vote.
