Ottawa Public Health (OPH) says Franco Ouest Catholic High School and Gabrielle Roy Public School are both now dealing with COVID-19 outbreaks, as each has two students who have tested positive for the virus.
Montfort Catholic Elementary School (one student, one staff member COVID-19 positive) and Monsignor Paul Baxter School (two students, two staff COVID-19 positive) are also still part of OPH’s institutional outbreak list.
On Tuesday, Ottawa’s Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Vera Etches said 34 schools in the city had at least one positive case in a student or staff member.
Meanwhile, OPH is reporting 65 new cases of COVID-19 in the city, Wednesday.
The number of active cases of the virus in Ottawa is up to 545.
Local COVID-19 hospitalizations are up slightly to 13, with three in intensive care.
OPH is reporting one death linked to the virus, Wednesday, but it is one of the 11 reported earlier this week by West End Villa long-term care.
Ottawa’s overall COVID-19 death toll has reached 280.
There have been 3,837 lab-confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 in the city since March, with 2,954 of them resolved.
Ontario is reporting 335 cases of COVID-19, Wednesday, after more than 35,400 tests were completed.
Minister of Health Christine Elliott says, of Wednesday’s reported cases, 69 per cent of people testing positive are under the age of 40.
