There were no new confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported in Newfoundland and Labrador on Sunday.

That leaves nine active cases in the province after three new cases were reported on Saturday in the Western Health region. Those new cases involved females under the age of 19 who were close contacts of a previous case, and were members of the same extended household. Officials also said they were already in quarantine throughout their infectious periods, meaning there is no risk of transmission to the community.

Meanwhile, Dr. Janice Fitzgerald said anyone who must travel to New Brunswick should follow all the rules in effect there. The advice follows news of outbreaks in the Moncton and Campbellton areas of that province.

While in New Brunswick, people are advised to limit the number of close contacts to as few as possible, maintain physical distancing, practise frequent and proper hand hygiene and use proper sneeze and sniffle etiquette. Travellers to Newfoundland and Labrador from those regions should self-monitor for COVID symptoms for the first 14 days after arrival and contact 811 to arrange testing if symptoms develop. They should also not attend any large gatherings and avoid crowded public places for two weeks.

Two hundred and sixty-nine people have recovered from the virus in this province. To date, 46,565 people have been tested and four people have died.
