Coronavirus Canada Updates: Quebec reports 1,448 new coronavirus cases, a record one-day high

Quebec recorded 1,448 new cases of COVID-19 Saturday, a record one-day high.

The provincial government attributed 25 new deaths to the virus, bringing the Quebec total to 6,611.

“Among these 25 deaths, four have occurred in the last 24 hours, 17 occurred between Nov. 7 and Nov. 12 and four occurred on an unknown date,” the provincial government stated on its website.

Despite the government’s recent efforts to reduce the spread of the virus, the number of cases reported Saturday increased significantly above the average reported daily since Nov. 6, which was 1,288.

The Ontario government reported 1,581 new cases on Saturday. According to reports, that is a record one-day high for that province as well.

The total number of confirmed cases across Quebec now stands at 122,643. Montreal’s total number of confirmed cases, as of Friday, is 46,270.

The city is still reporting the highest number of confirmed cases among all regions in Quebec with an average of 306 cases reported per day over the past week. The other regions reporting high numbers of confirmed cases are Lanaudière, which recorded an average of 162 new cases over the past week, and the Montérégie, which reported an average of 154.

There were 583 people hospitalized because of COVID-19, the same as Friday. The number of people in intensive care decreased by three to 82.
