Parti Quebecois MNA Harold LeBel was arrested Tuesday morning for sexual assault, according to media reports.
The Sûreté du Québec confirmed they had arrested a 58-year-old suspect in Rimouski in connection with a sexual offence but did not confirm his identity. LeBel, MNA for Rimouski, is 58.
Investigators will meet the suspect later Tuesday.
The SQ did not provide details on the alleged victim, but the TVA network reported they are a member of the National Assembly.
Harold LeBel has been a PQ MNA since 2014. He is the party’s labour critic.
