The Ford Government announced Monday that the Middlesex-London health unit will move to the red-control zone of the Ontario COVID-19 framework.
The release states that the region has seen case rates “increase by 86.9 per cent, to 64.4 cases per 100,000 people” over the last week, with an additional increase in cases screening for variants of concern.
The change will go into effect Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at 12:01 a.m.
“Stronger public health measures [are] urgently needed to help ensure the continued health and safety of people in the region,” said Dr. David Williams, Chief Medical Officer of Health. “As we continue to see some alarming trends in health indicators across the province all Ontarians are urged to remain vigilant.”
The region was previously in the orange-restrict zone, which allows for more people in indoor gatherings, amongst additional looser restrictions.
