Quebec’s police watchdog is investigating after a man was killed by Montreal police today in the city’s Lachine borough.
The Bureau des enquêtes indépendantes, also known as the BEI, says the man died after police shot him just after 1 p.m.
It says police received a 911 call about a man who had allegedly attacked people with a sharp object inside a building.
When police arrived, the suspect still had the sharp object in his hand and allegedly charged at them.
The man was struck by at least one bullet and was transported to hospital where he died.
