Police north of Toronto say one officer is dead and another is fighting for his life in hospital after a shooting during a disturbance call Tuesday night.
South Simcoe Police Service say the fatal incident occurred shortly before 8 p.m. at a home in the town of Innisfil.
The statement says both officers were taken to a nearby hospital, where one died from their injuries.
The other officer had to be airlifted to a Toronto trauma centre, where he remains in critical condition.
Investigators say the suspect in the case is also dead, following an interaction with police.
The Special Investigations Unit has been called in.
A news conference is expected sometime later Wednesday.
