Health officials in Alberta will provide a live update on COVID-19 on Wednesday afternoon.
A release from the Province of Alberta notes that Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw will speak via live stream at a press conference at 3:30 pm.
This will be the first press conference held updating the province about coronavirus since Monday, during which Hinshaw revealed that 20 people had died in Alberta as a result of COVID-19 over the course of just 24 hours.
Alberta has seen cases rise over the past month, with active cases surpassing the 10,000 mark earlier this week.
The newest public health measures put an end to most indoor team sports and performances and encouraged Albertans in areas under enhanced measures to avoid hosting social gatherings at their homes.
“COVID-19 is challenging us, and we have to rise to this test,” Alberta Premier Jason Kenney said at the November 12 press conference.
“We have to bend the curve back down to support our healthcare system to protect vulnerable Albertans, to keep schools open, and to prevent further damage to people’s livelihoods and the economy at a time of great adversity.”
