An individual from Ecole Montrose in Grande Prairie has tested positive for COVID-19.
In a letter sent home to families Wednesday, Deputy Superintendent James Robinson says school administration has been in contact with those who have been identified as close contacts of the individual who tested positive.
The school remains open for in-person classes for anyone not identified as a close contact.
This case follows the announcement of two cases at Crystal Park earlier this week. A second case has also been reported at Derek Taylor Public School.
Alberta’s chief medical officer of health Dr. Deena Hinshaw said Wednesday there are alerts at 167 schools in Alberta and two outbreaks (both in the Calgary Zone). She adds 18 of those cases have been linked to in-school transmission.
