Fraser Health has updated a COVID-19 outbreak in New Westminster.

The outbreak at Queen’s Park Care Centre was updated to also include the acute facility after an individual patient within a rehabilitation unit tested positive for COVID-19.

Queen’s Park Care Centre is an acute and long-term care facility in New Westminster that is owned and operated by Fraser Health.

An outbreak within the long-term care unit at Queen’s Park Care Centre was declared on October 24, 2020 after a staff member tested positive for COVID-19, and remains active, said Fraser Health.

“No new cases have been identified within the long-term care unit,” read a statement. “At this time, it does not appear that the cases in the long-term care unit and the rehabilitation unit are connected, and the units operate separately. Upon declaring the outbreak, Fraser Health immediately implemented enhanced infection prevention and control precautions, including enhanced cleaning, as well as contact tracing to protect the health of all staff, medical staff, and patients.”
