The region’s health unit has confirmed 53 new COVID cases in Simcoe County and two in Muskoka District since it last reported on Friday.
The health unit is reporting 16 new cases in Barrie, including two girls and one boy under 18, all close contacts; four men and two women between 18 to 34 years old, two are close contacts and four are community-acquired; two women and three men between 35 and 44 years old, two are close contact and three are community-acquired, and a man and a woman between 45 and 64 years old, both are close contacts.
There are three new cases in Innisfil including a woman between 35 and 44 years old (close contact) a man between 45 and 64 years old (under investigation) and a woman between 65 and 79 years old (close contact).
There are 15 new cases in Bradford West Gwillimbury including two boys under 18, one a close contact, the other under investigation; two people between 45 and 64 years old whose cases are linked to a workplace outbreak; two men and two women between 18 and 34 years old, all close contacts of other cases; a man and a woman between 35 and 44 whose cases are under investigation; a woman between 45 and 64 whose case is linked to an institutional outbreak; and two women and one man between 65 and 79 years old, two are close contacts and the third is under investigation.
There are 11 new cases in New Tecumseth, including five cases connected to the outbreak at Simcoe Manor long-term care home. The outbreak-related cases include two women over 80, a man over 80 years old, and a man and a woman between 65 and 79 years old. There are also two Bradford boys under 18 on the list, both case transmissions are under investigation.
The remaining four Bradford cases include a man and a woman between 18 and 34 years old (under investigation), a man between 45 and 64 years old (close contact) and a man between 65 and 79 years old (close contact).
The health unit has also confirmed one death of a New Tecumseth person. The death was reported earlier this week by Simcoe County as a Simcoe Manor resident.
There are two new cases in Essa, a man between 45 and 64 years old (close contact) and a man between 35 and 44 years old (community-acquired).
Also among the new cases is a Collingwood man between 18 and 34 whose case was community-acquired. There is also a Wasaga Beach woman between 18 and 34 whose case is under investigation.
The remaining four Simcoe County cases reported today include three women between 18 and 34 years old from Adjala-Tosorontio and a Penetanguishene man between 65 and 79 years old whose case was community-acquired.
The two Muskoka cases include a Muskoka Lakes man between 18 and 34 years old (close contact) and a Bracebridge man between 35 and 44 years old (community-acquired).
The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported a total of 1,083 cases of COVID-19. There are now 900 cases listed as recovered. There are 136 active cases in the region, and four people are currently hospitalized The health unit has recorded 42 deaths.
The incidence rate for Simcoe-Muskoka region is 182 cases per 100,000 people.
