Quebec public health has added 1,773 new COVID-19 cases, 36 additional deaths, and nine new hospitalizations.
According to the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux, among the 36 new deaths, five occurred in the past day, 29 between December 11 and December 16, and two from earlier this month.
The increase in hospitalizations now totals 1,011 across the province, 141 of whom are in intensive care.
Since Thursday, 896 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were administered for a provincial total of 3,305.
Total coronavirus cases in the province have now reached 172,801, along with 7,67 deaths.
Public health also reports 2,208,820 negative cases, with 145,532 being deemed “recoveries.”
The new data was reported by hospitals and public health officials on Thursday, December 17, at 6 pm.
Despite the uptick in cases, public health says “the spread of COVID-19 is under control in Quebec,” but cites the next few weeks as “critical.”
