Coronavirus Canada Updates: New and active cases of COVID-19 fall in Alberta Saturday

The number of new cases and the number that are active in the province both fell yesterday (May 15) when Alberta gave its daily update on COVID-19.

1,195 new cases were reported, Alberta’s lowest number in nearly a month. Active cases fell by 880 yesterday, reaching 22,993.

12.926 tests were performed for a positivity rate of around 9.6 percent.

The number of people in hospital with the virus also dropped, but one more person was admitted to intensive care. 686 Albertans are hospitalized, 27 less than on Friday and 178 are being treated in the ICU.

Three more people, two men in the Calgary zone and one from the North zone, passed away. 2,140 Albertans have now died.

The active cases in Airdrie and Rocky View County were both down yesterday with the city falling by eight to 638 and RVC down 14 to a total of 276.

The number of people who have recovered from the virus now stands at 2,898 for Airdrie and 1,568 for RVC.
