Ontario’s most updated figures, released Sunday morning, show the province has registered 1,848 new diagnosed cases of COVID-19, including 43 deaths.
In the region covered by Ottawa Public Health, the agency has recorded 46 new cases, based on data up to mid-afternoon Saturday. There were no no deaths locally.
According to the province, Eastern Ontario counted 19 new cases, and the Renfrew area, one. Toronto counted 726 new diagnosed cases.
The general downward trend in local numbers comes even as Ottawa Public Health’s list of outbreaks on Saturday showed 72 cases at an unidentified shelter for the homeless (62 residents, 10 staff), 11 at another and 17 at a third.
Ottawa’s four emergency housing shelters stopped taking new admissions and were making other arrangements for those who needed temporary shelter.
