Today's coronavirus Canada - Update: New Brunswick reports 27 new COVID-19 cases

Ottawa has reached a dubious milestone during the COVID-19 pandemic, with more than 8,000 confirmed cases of the virus in the capital.

Ottawa Public Health reported 37 new cases of COVID-19 in Ottawa on Thursday, along with no new deaths.

Since the first case of COVID-19 reported on March 11, there have been 8,027 laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ottawa, including 363 deaths.

The 37 new cases of COVID-19 in Ottawa is the lowest one-day increase in three days. There were 22 new cases on Wednesday and 11 new cases on Tuesday.

Across Ontario, there are 1,210 new cases of COVID-19, including 361 new cases in Peel Region and 346 in Toronto.

ACTIVE CASES OF COVID-19 IN OTTAWA

The number of known active cases of COVID-19 in the City of Ottawa has fallen below 400 for the first time since mid-September.

Ottawa Public Health reports 396 active cases of COVID-19 in Ottawa.

A total 7,268 people have recovered after testing positive for COVID-19.

The number of active cases is the number of total lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 minus the numbers of resolved cases and deaths. A case is considered resolved 14 days after known symptom onset or positive test result.

HOSPITALIZATIONS IN OTTAWA
Forty-three people are admitted to an Ottawa hospital with COVID-19 related illnesses.

There are four people in the intensive care unit with COVID-19.

Of the people in hospital, one are in their 30s, two are in their 40s, Two people are in their 50s, seven are in their 60s, 12 are in their 70s, 11 are in their 80s, and eight are 90 or older.

0-9 years old: Five new cases (530 cases total)
10-19 years-old: Four new cases (922 cases total)
20-29 years-old: Five new cases (1,659 cases total)
30-39 years-old: Five new cases (1,051 cases total)
40-49 years-old: Four new cases (1,017 cases total)
50-59 years-old: Eight new case (939 cases total)
60-69-years-old: Two new cases (627 cases total)
70-79 years-old: Three new cases (412 cases total)
80-89 years-old: Zero new cases (516 cases total)
90+ years old: Zero new cases (353 cases total)
