Coronavirus Canada Updates: Premier Jason Kenney to provide COVID-19 update this afternoon

The Premier of Alberta will provide a live update on COVID-19 on Monday afternoon.

A release from the Province of Alberta notes that Premier Jason Kenney will hold a livestreamed press conference at 3:30 pm MST to update the province on the work being done to protect public health.

The premier will be joined by Dr. Deena Hinshaw, the Chief Medical Officer of Health, and Tyler Shandro, the Minister of Health.

Alberta reported 1,183 new COVID-19 cases and 24 virus-related deaths on January 8. The province has now seen a total of 111,452 cases and 1,284 deaths since the pandemic began.

On January 9, the province reported Canada’s first confirmed case of the South African COVID-19 variant.

Albertans will be able to view the live press conference at the YourAlberta YouTube channel or on Kenney’s Facebook page at 3:30 pm MST.
