Quebec public health has added 53 new COVID-19 virus-related deaths to the provincial total.

According to Santé Quebec, among the 53 new deaths, six occurred over the past day, 36 between December 4 and December 9, ten from earlier in December, and one from an “unknown date.”

New daily cases have reached 1,713. The number of hospitalizations has increased by 23 since Thursday to 871, 123 of whom are in intensive care.

Total coronavirus cases in the province have now reached 160,023, along with 7,435 deaths.

Public health also reports 2,152,393 negative cases, with over 110,000 being deemed “recoveries.”

The new data was reported by hospitals and public health officials on Thursday, December 10, at 6 pm.

Despite the uptick in cases, public health says “the spread of the COVID-19 is under control in Quebec,” but cites the next few weeks as “critical.”
