After recording fewer than 500 cases for three days to start the last week, Quebec announced 612 new infections on Sunday — the fourth straight day with more than 600 new cases.
These new cases announced saw the province’s seven-day rolling average climb to 546.
Despite accounting for just 23.9 per cent of Quebecers, people who don’t enjoy the protection of a first vaccine dose accounted for 400 of those new infections.
A total of 415,787 infections have now been confirmed in the province since the first one was reported in February 2020.
Quebec also announced three more fatalities had been attributed to the virus, bringing the province’s death toll to 11,415.
The number of hospitalizations because of the virus now stands at 296 patients, a decrease of one. Of those patients, 80 are in intensive care — a decrease of four.
