Two people have been charged with first-degree murder in the death of an 88-year-old woman, the Ottawa Police Service said in a news release Monday evening.
Kieu Lam was found dead after police were called to an address on Bowmount Street in the city’s east end at 12:25 a.m. Monday.
Police guarded the house — 1230 Bowmount, the end unit of a row of town houses — while white-suited forensic officers photographed the scene and collected evidence on Monday.
Neighbours said three people lived in the home, including one elderly woman who could often be seen walking outside.
The people have lived in the unit for more than a decade, but neighbours who spoke to this newspaper knew them only well enough to say hello.
Chau Khanh Lam, 56, and Hue Ai Lam, 59, are facing murder charges. They were to appear in court Monday.
Bowmount Street is north of Donald Street between St. Laurent Boulevard and Cummings Avenue.
