A 26-year-old man was charged with second-degree murder on Tuesday, in the stabbing death of his stepfather.

Guillaume Dion Roy was arrested on the scene of the crime Sunday, in a Drummond street apartment building in downtown Montreal.

Now charged with murdering his stepfather Raymond Hébert.

He also is charged with three attempted murder charges for allegedly having stabbed his mother and two other people.

The alleged stabbings took place around 6:50 a.m. on June 26.

Police believe the suspect first injured his mother and stepfather. Then, he reportedly went to another apartment and injured a third person, as well as a security guard who tried to intervene.

The man’s 72-year-old stepfather was pronounced dead at the scene.

Montreal police said on Sunday that the 26-year-old man showed signs of psychosis.

This was the city’s 13th homicide of the year.

The suspect remains detained and will be back in court July 5.
