A man in his 80s was pronounced dead in hospital Thursday after being hit by a car in what an ongoing Gatineau police investigation so far suggests was an “unfortunate accident.”
The man was hit in the lot at a store on Boulevard de la Gappe at about 3 p.m.
Police immediately secured the area with the help of firefighters and collision investigators examined the scene and spoke to witnesses into the evening.
While their work continued Friday, “at this point, the investigation tends to show that it was an unfortunate accident,” Gatineau police said in a media release.
