One man is dead and a woman has suffered second-degree burns after an RV caught fire in East Vancouver Saturday.

According to Vancouver Police, crews were called to the area of East 12th Avenue and Slocan Street early in the afternoon.

“A 29-year-old woman was able to escape, however, a man in his 50s, unfortunately, did not make it out and was found deceased,” says Const. Tania Visintin in a statement.

“The woman has been transported to hospital.”

The vehicle was “fully engulfed” when police arrived and arson investigators are working to determine the cause.

“Preliminary evidence does not indicate the death of the man to be suspicious,” Visintin writes.

The BC Coroners Service has also been called in.
