Victoria Police officers have arrested three people, while another three are in hospital recovering from stab wounds following a series of incidents on Saturday night.
According to police, officers were called to the 800-block of Johnson Street just after 8:45 p.m. on Saturday, October 23, for a report that a man was chasing two other men while wielding a large metal pipe.
Police responded to the location and found a man matching the suspect’s description, along with the described metal pipe nearby that had a sharpened end. As officers arrested the suspect and identified him, they also learned that he had an outstanding warrant for a breach of a court-ordered condition.
He was transported to VicPD cells where he was held for a bail hearing. The men he was chasing, however, were not located in the area.
At approximately 9:20 p.m. on the same night, officers received another report regarding an incident in the 900-block of Pandora Avenue. The report was that a man had been stabbed by two others.
VicPD says officers attended the area and located the victim in a tent, suffering from potentially life-threatening stab wounds. The man was transported to hospital by BC Emergency Health Services paramedics where he received medical treatment and his injuries are now considered non-life-threatening.
After receiving a description of the stabbing suspects, officers were able to determine that it was the same description of the two victims that had been in the previous call with the man wielding the metal pipe.
Police located the two men when they attended an area hospital, themselves suffering from non-life-threatening stab wounds.
They were identified and arrested by officers.
