POLICE have found a body they believe to be missing teen Charlie Pope in Manchester canal.
Charlie Pope, who lived in West Didsbury, disappeared after leaving Zombie Shack on New Wakefield Street in the city centre.
He was last seen on Whitworth Street at around 4.50am.
Police divers were seen trawling Rochdale Canal on Friday in the search for the missing 19-year-old.
A GMP spokesman confirmed that a body was found in the water that afternoon.
The body is believed to be that of the missing teenager, although formal identification has not yet taken place.
Charlie’s family, who live in the North East of England, have been informed.
There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death, the spokesman confirmed.
He said: “Officers searching for missing man Charlie Pope have found a body in Manchester City Centre.
“As part of enquiries being carried out to find 19-year-old Charlie, an underwater search was carried out in the canal just off Whitworth Street West yesterday, Friday.
“Just after 3.40pm the search team found a body in the canal.”
He added: “Although formal ID is yet to take place, it is believed to be Charlie Pope.
“His family have been informed and are being provided with support from specially trained officers at this tragic time.
“There are believed to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a file will be passed to the coroner.”
