Netflix is reportedly nearing a world rights deal said to be in the costly range of $25 million for the Chastain and Eddie Redmayne-led “The Good Nurse”.
The true story tale sees Redmayne playing Charlie Cullen, a married father and responsible caretaker who is also regarded as one of the most prolific serial killers in history. Nicknamed the Angel of Death, he was allegedly responsible for the deaths of almost three-hundred patients over sixteen years and across nine hospitals.
He was eventually caught when a brave fellow nurse (Chastain) risked everything to aid some Newark homicide detectives in tracking down his crimes and catching him. The film was previously set up with Lionsgate but is now on the open market.
Krysty Wilson-Cairns (“1917”) pens and Tobias Lindholm (“A Hijacking”) makes his English-language feature directing debut on the film which is based on the book by Charles Graeber. FilmNation and Darren Aronofsky’s Protozoa Pictures will produce.
