A pedestrian was hospitalized after being struck by a semi truck in Valleyview early Tuesday morning, according to Kamloops police.

In a news release, Kamloops RCMP Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said a police officer was patrolling Highway 1 near Oriole Road just after 4:30 a.m. when he came upon a collision involving a transport truck and a pedestrian.

Evelyn said the woman who was hit by the truck was taken to hospital and, as of 4 p.m. on Tuesday, was still receiving medical care.

“The extent of her injuries are unknown at this time, but she is expected to survive,” Evelyn said.

Police are investigating the collision. Anyone who witnessed or has dash cam footage of the incident is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP detachment at 250-828-3000.
