Police investigating fatal collision in Markham involving dump truck, car (Report)

Investigators with the York Regional Police Major Collision Investigation Unit are seeking witnesses following a fatal collision in the City of Markham. On Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2020, at 10:24 a.m., officers responded to a collision on Woodbine Avenue in the area of Idema Road.

The adult male driver in a car was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene. Investigators believe that the car collided with a dump truck, which remained at the scene. The driver of the dump truck was not injured. Woodbine Avenue is closed in both directions from Steeles Avenue through to Steelcase Road for the ongoing investigation.

Investigators are appealing to any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police, or anyone who may have dashcam footage of the collision, to please come forward.
