RCMP in northern Saskatchewan have charged a 13-year-old girl with the aggravated assault of two young children.

Officers say they were called Saturday night to a wooded area near La Ronge, a town about 380 kilometres north of Saskatoon.

They say two girls, who are six and eight, had gone to a nearby home to ask for help and were taken to hospital.

Police did not give details about their injuries.

RCMP say the accused was to appear today in La Ronge Provincial Court.

The teen cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
