A four-year-old girl who went missing Sunday night in the town of Shannon near Quebec City on Sunday night was found dead early Monday in a neighbour’s pool.
The discovery was made at about 12:45 a.m. said Sgt. Marie-Michèle Moore of the Sûreté du Québec.
Attempts at resuscitation were performed and the child was rushed to a hospital, where her death was confirmed during the night.
Early Monday the SQ remained unable to determine the circumstances of the child’s death. A crime scene technician, investigators and the local coroner were at the site.
A police search for the girl was launched at 5 p.m. in the area on Donaldson St. after Léa Fiset was discovered to be missing. Volunteers and members of the SQ’s major crimes squad combed the area.
A Canadian Armed Forces helicopter was also deployed.
