Today we’re getting a new posthumous release from Juice WRLD, making what would have been the gone-too-soon rapper’s 22nd birthday.
‘Real Shit’ is a new collaboration between Juice and producer Benny Blanco, who worked with the Chicago artist on 2019 singles ‘Graduation’ and ‘Roses’.
It’s a bittersweet listen, with bars that definitely hit different, like ‘life’s good, so I’m living great’. Listen below.
Benny Blanco paid tribute to Juice WRLD shortly after the 21-year-old’s untimely death from an accidental overdose on 8 December.
“U were one of the sweetest / purest people i have ever met… ur talent was unmatched by anyone,” the producer wrote in an Instagram post.
“u were not a human… u were something else… something special… i’m thankful for the time we spent together.”
More unreleased Juice WLRD material on the way?
‘Real Shit’ follows on from a posthumous collab with The Weeknd, and the Juice WRLD album Legends Never Die, which broke streaming records and became the biggest posthumous release in 20 years.
Juice also appeared prominently on The Kid LAROI’s J Award nom’d mixtape F*CK LOVE, which reached #3 in the US and here in Australia.
There’s been rumours of a second posthumous album in the works, sparked by Lil Bibby – co-owner of Grade A Productions, the label both Juice and LAROI are signed to.
“Kid LAROI… Juice WRLD next album,” Bibby said in a video interview with The Hollywood Fix in October “I’m talking too much.”
