Toronto police are investigating after shots were fired at two tow trucks in two separate shootings near Highway 401 in North York overnight.

Police said the first drive-by shooting happened just before midnight Wednesday near the on-ramp to the westbound 401 at Avenue Road.

A tow truck was parked on the grass just off the on-ramp when a black-coloured car, possibly a Mercedes, drove past and fired dozens of shots at the tow truck.

Police said the second shooting happened a short time later at the Oriole GO Station near Leslie Street and the 401. Up to six shots fired at that location from a dark-coloured vehicle, possibly a Honda or a Mercedes, which then sped off.

No injuries were reported in either shooting.

So far police have not confirmed whether two shootings are linked.
